DAILY TRAINING THROUGH
SESSIONS AND WORKSHOPS & WHO IS IT FOR?

Gatuverket’s hosts regular workshops and sessions to support the wider community of dancers interested in these artforms. This is open to any person interested in our work.

We also focus specifically to create a space where people that are adequately fluent (experienced) within freestyle / streetdance related styles. That is the aim of applying for a membership here with us.

It’s purpose is to provide continuous practice and development in the spirit of freestyle practice, rhythmic exploration and technical/physical development. This program is funded through the Swedish Art Councils program “Daily Training for professional dancers and choreographers”.

For a long time, this type of training has only been provided to professional dancers of ballet, contemporary and commercial/jazz styles but through this initiative we create a much needed space.

We (Gatuverket) know that defining professionality within our respective artforms is not done necessarily from diplomas and formal education. The artforms in question are based in subculture movements and “quality” is based on experience, feelings and knowledge that are stored in our bodies.

The aim of the sessions is to provide a next step for dancers and/or choreographers with their background in freestyle or street related dance styles. Maybe you have been involved in the culture for quite some time and through experience, workshops, jams, battles etc gained fluency within one or several expressions.

The criteria’s for whom this program is for is hard to put in exact terms since everyones paths are so different, but please don’t hesitate to apply if the format seems right for you!
